Mr Jeoff Land - Year 6 Teacher
Ms Sandra Beatty - Year 6 Teacher
Mrs Trudi Webb - Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Welcome to the Year 6 section of the school’s website.
Facilitating the learning in Year 6 this year we have Mr Land (Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings), Mrs Beatty (Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays) with support from Mrs Webb (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).
Year 6 presents children with some unique challenges – not least SATs (in May) and the preparation for transition to secondary school. We also have our residential camp, the chance to stand for house captain and sitting on benches at the back of the hall in assemblies.
As we move through the year, this is where we will keep you up to date with what’s going on in class.
For example this term our main topic is linked to History and WWII as we look to answer the big question, ‘What was life like for children in WWII?’. Linked to WWII, we will be using the book, Rose Blanche (Roberto Innocenti and Ian McEwan) in Literacy as a stimulus for writing and drama activities.

Here are some pictures from year 6 on Tuesday 6th Feb when they had a visit from Rizwan Ahmed from The Bristol Muslim Cultural Society.
Also are pictures some pictures from year 6 during Science week, finding out how electricity travels and how it affects your hairstyle!
Year 6 made pastry and created some delicious seasonal tarts and pies including apple and cherry, mincemeat and custard pies. Yum!
Our task was to design, make and evaluate a self-propelled vehicle. We used elastic bands, balloons and wind up mechanisms. We had some success but most of us had to go back to the drawing board!
