Year 6 have been solving and investigating maths puzzles and problems involving dominoes.
YEAR 6 SAT'S WEEK
We were extremely proud of all the children in Year Six last week. They have worked hard throughout their time at Avonmouth CE Primary School and incredibly hard this year demonstrating a willingness to do well and perseverance.
In Maths we explored the relationship between the area, perimeter and volume of open cuboids.
As part of their Home Learning children have used chocolate to make lots of scrummy goodies to share with the class.

What are Year 6 up to?
This term we are looking at informal and formal letter writing and how to write a balanced argument using persuasive language and casual connectives.
Reading - Floodlands by Marcus Sedgwick, using the subject matter across the curriculum.
Numeracy - we have been multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting fractions and we are now moving on to comparing and converting fractions to decimal numbers and percentages. In class we have looked at the best bargains to buy, for example, which is the better bargain below?
Our Topic this term is all about Renewable and Non-renewable energy sources and exploring the advantages through enquiry. We will also be looking at the history of electricity.
In P.E we have been doing Gymnastics: focusing on balance, rolls and jumps using controlled movements to form a sequence.
In ICT we are discovering the world of Coding and how it is used in everyday life.
Art lessons have been all about the different kinds of Hatching (line sketching) and we have created some amazing pictures which will become a display outside our classroom, alongside our fantastic Remembrance poetry.
