The children who have been elected to be school council members this year are:
Year 2: Year 4:
Year 3: Year 5: Year 6:
The School Councillors were voted into office by their classmates. The School Council meets each half term and discusses any suggestions or ideas that their classmates may have come up with. The children's ideas to improve the school are discussed with Mrs McMahon and the discussions between the Head Teacher and the School Council are then fed back to the rest of the school either through an assembly or through class discussions.
Sometimes the school asks the School Councillors to represent children's views about aspects of school life. For example at the moment, the School Council is being consulted about our lunchtime arrangements, ensuring that our children have their opinions and ideas listened to and included in the Senior Leadership Teams discussions and decision making.
A recent example of how the School Council works, is an idea proposed by a child in Year 2, where they asked if an adult could sometimes referree the children playing football in afternoon play. This has been acted upon and Mr Plenty now referees regularly!
