Privacy Notices for pupils in schools, early years settings, alternative provision and pupil referral units

From the 25th May 2018, new regulations will be introduced which affect how our school handle people’s data. This is called the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). Compliance with the regulations will be an ongoing process and the school have appointed a data protection officer to advise and manage compliance with the regulation.

We at Avonmouth CE Primary School are the Data Controller for the purposes of the Data Protection Act. We collect information from parents/carers and may receive information about pupils and families from the Local Authority and the child’s previous school. We hold this personal data and use it to:

  • support our pupils’ learning
  • monitor and report on their progress
  • provide appropriate pastoral care; and
  • assess how well the school is doing

This information includes your contact details, National Curriculum assessment results, attendance information and personal characteristics such as ethnic group, special educational needs and any relevant medical information.

We will not give information about you to anyone outside the school without your consent unless the law and our rules permit it. We are required by law to pass some of your information to the Local Authority (LA), and the Department for Education (DfE).

If you want to see a copy of the information about your child that the school holds and/or shares, please contact the School Office.
