Reading

At Avonmouth C of E Primary School we believe in developing a love of reading. Reading is vital for all other learning and we place a lot of emphasis on the learning of reading right from the start in Daisies Class.

Children have access to high quality texts and teachers read daily to their classes.

We work closely with the local library and each class has the opportunity to visit during a term. We are currently redeveloping our library within school and very soon will have an audiobook library to run alongside our books.

How can you help?

  • Read yourself
  • Listen to audiobooks
  • Share books with your child
  • Have books around your house or a family bookshelf
  • READ AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK - as busy parents this can be challenging but it makes such a difference to children's learning.
  • Talk about books and authors.
  • Visit Avonmouth Library - the children will be able to show you around!
